Drowning

March 4, 2021
By Anonymous

Icy water fills my nose,

My mouth, my lungs.

My body is numb, but

My lungs are bursting.

Water replaces air.

Time and consciousness

Start slipping away unnoticed.

I feel nothing but

Pure acceptance.

My friends,

A usually rowdy group of teenage boys,

Panic and scream far above the ice.

Then,

I’m Gone.

The universe must be a teenage girl. So much darkness, so many stars.
