Why they and not us?
I am a girl born on this Earth.
Did my mother make any mistake, giving me birth?
When I grew up, still small, I heard people say,
She's a girl, not a boy, so behave in such a way!
When I was a teenager, I learnt to say
I'm a girl, not a boy, is it a big mistake for me to stay?
Am I a burden for the society and family?
I used to question myself daily.
Why are females emotional and sensitive but still inferior?
Males, on the other hand, are torturous and so superior?
Nobody cared for me when I used to cry in pain,
But brother! Not a scratch and even a doctor required to train!
Why can't I fight or protest, as my brother does?
The answer was, "That's the rule you can't abuse. "
I grew up and was married at last.
But never these questions' answers came fast.
It will remain a mystery till death.
So what? Being girls, we'll never lose faith.
