Running
Endless laps
Around the track
One foot and then another
And then another and another
Burning pain
Exhilaration, gain
Three down
Keep going around
Don’t stop
Don’t drop
Push hard
Without regard
Eight done
Run into the sun
Don’t look up
Don’t give up
Almost there
Hope nothing tears
Finish line up ahead
Run faster instead
It’s over, you did it
Glad you didn’t quit
Everything hurts but that’s okay
Time to run another day

I am a distance racer, and while I'm not that fast, I love it. My friends often ask me why I run and what if feels like. This is the best I've been able to come up with to describe the feeling of racing and running.
