Waiting For Spring
Stuck inside for what seems like days.
The winter wonderland outside
does not seem so wonderful anymore.
When will the weather become warmer?
The weather has only become colder
while people become restless in their homes.
They wonder when the cold will go away
and dream of the warmth they have not felt in so long.
All they see is pure whiteness
when they look out their windows.
Everyone yearns for the beautiful colors of spring
they once saw when looking outside.
The temperature has not changed in days.
The snow keeps piling and forms mountains.
There is nothing to do anymore,
and everyone is feeling the seasonal depression.
The weather is relentless and does not hold back.
Schools have been cancelled for days now.
Everyone feels trapped inside their homes
and will do anything to bring back the summer.
Then, a glimmer of hope arises.
The forecast shows above freezing temperatures
in the next coming week.
Every person is buzzing with excitement.
Will the snow finally be gone?
Will people be able to stand the temperature outside?
The next few weeks bring plenty of sunlight
and the snow starts to slowly melt away.
Winter is over and spring has begun.
People are enjoying the outdoors
and no longer have the seasonal depression.
The long-awaited spring has arrived.

I wrote this poem because I was literally waiting for Spring. The week I started this poem, my community was in the peak of Winter and I just wanted warmer weather. So, I told a story that refelcted what my community was going through and what we were all thinking during the peak of Winter.
