To Know New Love
I have known cruel touches
I have seen pits of hell
I have heard the sore screams
Of bitter angels wrapped in pain
At once you were Midas
My skin was new, pale gold
So flaky and fragile
And gentle you were with my heart still
I see fire differently
It is deep with passion
Warm with faith and safety
You burn it like you must be happy
I dare not hear the pain
Of love’s lost pasts in vain
Just the things they taught me
The hurt they gave to make yours so good

Finally finding that person who teaches you what it's really like to love and be loved after hurting for so long is a pretty magical thing.
