our skin is raw and bloody
I wear the mask
without awareness, it has molded
Draining the life out of me like some sort of leech
Feeding off my weaknesses
the fear of unmasking hinders me
though the closet door is wide open,
i hide in the corner
waiting to be set free
and I weep for those who masked too long
who tried so hard to hold on just for a bit longer
the “acceptance” they promote are lies
when a real issue will arise
they shrug us off and carry on
making money and promoting love
When all they show to us is hate
let them only see us while
we wear the mask
for without it,
our skin is raw and bloody
exposed to those willing to take advantage
I wish to rip off my mask
To reveal my true self
To not hide behind a veil
For no longer will i be frail
