A light shines through the blinds
The sun begins to shine
A morning song awakes as I open up my eyes
The cry of new morning
A song as fresh as morning dew
The birth of a new dawn calling out to you
Clouds make way for the sun
And birds begin to sing
The simple song of life
So sweet and serene
But then the dark arises as day turns to night
And I’m reminded that not all lamps stay alight
The cry of a child wrapped in rags
Makes its way through the dark
A sudden bolt of lightning scares all passing by out of sight
The wolves begin to howl and the winds begin to rage
The leaves start spinning in their wild dance of this current age
Buildings burn, people scream
Fires blaze, fights commence
And in the midst of chaos a long gone soul appears
Followed by deaths footsteps as the end nears
The cries of orphans sound
A sad song in the night
As those left are only there to continue on the fight
The fight for freedom, for justice, for liberty
A war that’s doomed to commence for all eternity
As I’m once again reminded of just how broken I am
I begin to remember who and what I really am
The stares of all the earth turn towards me
The panic sets in
What’s my state of mind and what world am I living in
And in a moment of bravery I answer with a simple sentence
“One day we all will be free”
