Collective Thoughts
there’s a rose i know
she is beauty and grace,
but her thorns are deadly.
she is fragile and lively,
a song without singing.
she calls and no one
listens. she cries and
no one hears. when she
smiles, her eyes glisten.
and when she laughs
her heart tears.
the streak of a star
soaring through the
sky. the glow of the
moon, glowing bright
and high. the song
the wind makes as it
pushes the clouds on
by, the everlasting kiss
of the forsaken night.
doodles are the landscapes
of another person's mind.
the twists and the swirls
entangled and combined.
another emotion sweeping
through. scribble scribble.
walking through the forest
to a clearing just to scream.
the cry muffled by the wind
and hushed by the trees.
the animals scatter about,
stirred by the broken silence.
the ghosts of the forest
search for the one forgotten.
telling them it’s okay to let
it out. so they did, and let
themselves sink into the
ground. just another lost
soul, already forgotten.
just let the tide drag me
down to the bottom of the
the sea. to reach the darkest
places that you can’t see.
that’s where the monsters
live anyway, don’t they.
aren’t dreams wonderful.
places you can create
and venture to without
ever leaving your home.
it’s like an escape some
could say. a way to get
away without someone
finding you, just your
own little world, all to
yourself. to be happy in.
do you ever feel lost.
not as in not knowing
where you’re going,
but just the feeling of
not knowing at all.
that you’re in some
paradox, where there
is no feeling, that you
just exist and that’s it.
for me it feels as if i’m
in the middle of an
ocean, but it’s entirely
still. with the night sky
bright above me, and
the sound of music
drifts through the water
quietly, reaching my
ears as if the ocean
was in fact alive and
speaking to me ever
so slightly. telling me
about it’s wonderful
secrets, the darkest
places to reach and
some of the most
beautiful things to
ever see in a lifetime.
hope is a funny word.
when someone is full
of hope, they feel like
something right will
happen for them or
for someone else.
but what do the feel
when what they want
to happen doesn’t.
when their world starts
crashing down around
them. when everything
goes wrong. would you
still want to be hopeful
even then. after all
aspects of your life are
completely destroyed.
they say a smile can hide
so many secrets, and yet
everyone still doesn’t ask
why one is smiling. if there
is something wrong. when
someone smiles, another
person just smiles back.
it’s just how we are. sharing
our deepest secrets, just
through one simple gesture.
