The Weight I Carry
I like to believe everything we do will cause change,
and that it’s really not too late. The environment;
our Earth, our home is dying.
Is it our responsibility to save it before it’s too late?
A question frequently asked,
Is it so extreme we should call it an emergency?
We are constantly being told;
to recycle, to plant and to go green.
But what if all this does nothing?
What if the time we spent building gardens
is for nothing.
What all of our attempts are for nothing?
What if everytime we think we are doing good,
it’s really insufficient.
What if it’s all too late, and the environment is lost.
Night after night,
these thoughts run through my head,
I can never escape them.
Like a weight I constantly carry with me.
