If the man had not been so rushed,
If he had held the wheels tighter,
If the traffic light had paused for just a second more,
If he had taken a wrong left turn,
If he just ran low on gas,
If only there was a glitch with the gps
If the boy hadn’t stopped to wave at his neighbor,
If he had not fed those poor cats,
If he had strained his shoelaces a bit more,
If he had just walked 0.00000001 times faster,
If he hadn’t stopped to look at the orange-slush sky,
If he only hadn’t walked home at this time, hour, day,
I would have never found your attention.
