A Moonlit Call
A full
moon brimming,
silently rising,
A hollow
cry piercing,
longing,
do I
hear
a soul?
perhaps he’s
looking for
his long-lost
love, searching
for her
song, singing
praise
to the
moon for
lighting his
path
but perhaps
he calls
for the
sun to
rise, a
solstice, to
melt the
falling snow
or perhaps
it is an echo
from his
pride; his
mother, brother
and ancestors
or else
he may be voicing
his resolution
to proceed,
while trapped in
the icy
world

This poem is about a wolf howling to the moon. In this poem, I try to capture the eerie call, the longing if the wolf, and the silvery quality the moon gives that completes the scene.
