this is the sound of me
coming apart
as you snip my stitches
and tug at my seams
do your button eyes really see all?
is the cotton so thick you can’t breathe?
i’m only one girl but you,
you’re more than that
aren’t you?
you strike matches with those button eyes.
you taste sawdust every time you breathe.
this is the sound of me
breaking my stride
as you cut me off
and run me down
