Shoelaces Untied
I walk the yellowed Earth with my shoelaces untied.
It may be simple to tie them, but I won’t.
Tying them would mean I have a destination.
Days blend together to form one neverending cycle,
This infinite day leads to the passage of time;
A time that seems to be running out.
But I keep walking, with my shoelaces untied.
I keep walking because no one can tell me different.
I keep walking to prove that I can.

This poem was crafted in my experience with the SZU lightning fires as well as distance learning for my senior year. The monotonous schedule with rare exceptions to its rigid sadness. I, as well as many of my peers, have felt that the days have all felt the same. This inspired me to talk about my experience with this situation.
