Reminisce Rain
the kitchen was a melting pot of voices
consciously oblivious
to the rhythmic pitter patter of rain on a metal roof
the sounds are muffled,
as if wrapped in sheets of cellophane
a piano slinks into the makeshift tune
a melody from long ago
floorboards creak beneath feet
protesting the incessant pacing
the sound of silence is a deafening drum
finding its way through the rips in the patchwork of the melody
float into an extravagant armchair
to absorb the harmonious song
before it slips away into the omnipresent darkness
that inevitably consumes all light and sound
sounds we allow ourselves to call joy
are simply an accidental collaboration
an exquisite collage of awful
nevertheless, we appreciate this wonderful accident
And are left reminiscing on that rainy day in January
when everything was complete
for two and a half minutes
and we were human
once again.
