Boy Man? Man Boy?

Hand in hand we go

I've grown from a boy to a man

Or so I think

I wish I'd known the life I'd live

I wish this wasn't a story I'd have to give

I'd seen the way life goes by and how we treat the "prize"

I love her with all my heart, but it doesn't give my head a way to act correct

I'd rather make jokes about r*pe instead of ask her for a simple yes or no

I'm too afraid of rejection, so I comment about her butt injection

I must remind myself these comments make me a man

I'm not a little boy since I know I can be racist or call people tran

The way I live is how many do

I just do this cause others do

I don't have much to lose

I think I don't even have a right to choose

This free verse I have written applies to many. It's hard to find a way to express this, because it is such a complex manner. I know that boy and man are very difficult terms and that a man is more knowledgable, but is this true? What difference does a man and a boy do when they still act the same? I come from a place where all living things get hurt eventually. In reality there are few men that I know of. The men I do know take responsibilties for their actions and the boys make excuses for their actions.
