One Sock
Hello lonely sock
Sitting atop the dryer
Freshly dried but forgotten
As your other half is missing
the only sock without a pair
Oh lonesome sock
How it hurts to see you by yourself
Thinking about the money I wasted
I will never find your match
It is lost in the washer’s spin
And as I stand here in the laundry room
I ponder where it could have gone
Or if it just disappeared altogether
So singular sock
I know it pains you to see the other pairs
Living merrily together as one
Knowing that you will never be used again
Goodbye lonely sock
Although our time together was short
For just 40 minutes ago you were with your partner
And now you lay here, defeated
Thus, my heart breaks for you lonely sock
As I see myself in you.
