I am from
I am from the small town
From dirt roads and corn fields
The place where the beach is bigger than our city
I am from the dirty volleyball knee pads
From the sandy track spikes
And the broken pointe shoes
I am from the “Go Green”
From the “Go White” family
With a college application at U of M
I am from Roatan
From the island of Belize
And St Thomas
I am from being the big sister
From the “I’m telling mom”
To the “Can you buy me ice cream”
I am from the fake plants
From the dead roses
And old leather green chair
I am from the always speeding
From the left lane driver
With the 3 car accidents
I am from the waitresses station
From the smelly barn
And loud tractor
I am from the Birch tree
From the telephone pole
With the factory lookout
I am from the words of books
From the verses in songs
And the ink of tattoos
