uncle
I told you excitedly to come back soon when ever I saw you,
But who was I to tell you what to do.
To say the least, I always looked up to you
All the memories,
Your smile,
Your laugh,
Your humor,
Your athleticism.
Your soft and gentle eyes always seemed eager for whatever came next;
And at the same time I always wish I saw you
with all the negatives.
Your drugs,
Your migraines,
Your kids,
Your significant other.
But now you’re gone;
All those memories now drenched in sadness.
I never approved of your friends
That got you in trouble,
That got you in probation,
That got you addicted.
With all those memories now drenched in sadness,
And from all the gossip,
and pulling away,
And anger.
The only reason I got for your death,
The only insight I got from people
Was don't let a crazy person into your life.
As a matter of fact that was the only answer I got.
