Girl
The way you look tonight
is setting my lungs on fire
with those suede boots and skinny jeans
and that purple eyeliner
framing those hazel orbs
like galaxies
And that silky voice
flowing over
the just-before-dark air
as we sit on these swings
in the park
Saying so little
and yet saying so much
with the way your hair flows
like ripples like brown ringlets
of water
Like ripples in the pond
in the park where we're swinging
With the way you look
up into the darkening city sky
As we walk back to your house
we can't see the sun set but
we know it is sinking low
somewhere in the west.
