a recipe for disaster
nothing good will come
from loving you.
it will start with starlit jaunts
through crystal creeks
and sunbathed boulevards.
your hands cupped
around my bare body
with no intention of leaving.
falling asleep to the hope
of tomorrow’s touch.
but it will end with
photos that have been torn
then taped then torn
once more. muddied names
and vicious wishes.
a smoking wreckage
of singed self-esteem.
i can tell that you
are a recipe for disaster.
a good time turned lethal
behind the masquerade
of modern love.
