The sun glimmers across the water in a sharp moltant orange

The water tossed every which way

My limbs stretch, pushing downward in my stiff binding

Emerging from the depths

The water falling off my body as if I’m hydrophobic

Sliding down the crescent to meet the mirror below me

calm and peaceful until I come along

I slip on top of the crest of the wave

disrupting the water with my sharp edge

Leaning on my heals as if I'm falling ever so slowly

Slicing through the plain of glass under the surface

strapped tightly to my feet.

The air rushes through my hair

My heart throbbing at a drums pace

Pulling my reliable handle into my body

Arriving at the crest of a dream of mine

Rotating through the air, a hope to see the other side

Stretching my torso , my board now over my head

Leaning on my toes as if im falling ever so slowly

A crash like cannonball pierces the water

My head appears from under the water

As my reliable rope scurries across the water

running from me

Steering quickly back to my recent failure

Eager to attempt once again

I ease back to the clam flats of the water

Leaning on my toes as if i'm falling ever so quickly

A roar from the audience from shore

A grin plastered ear to ear

A yell jumps out of my mouth with a fist pump into the air

Years of riding to final make it to this specific moment

Years of failure and frustration

To finally land up right

This poem is about my first time doing a "tantrum" (back flip on a wakeboard) and landing it while many of my family and friends were over to celebrate with me.
