Flip Side
A Society is like a Coin.
There are two sides.
Those two sides are different,
In fact, they are opposite each other;
Both occupying the same space.
Society is nothing like a Coin.
A Coin’s two sides recognize they are one,
Despite their differences.
They work together and never fight,
Despite their being opposite each other,
And a coin makes cents
A Coin’s head doesn’t mistreat its tail,
Nor its tail mistreat its head.
It knows it’s worth the same on either side,
And in one’s pocket it rings with pride.

This poem is in reflection of recent events regarding racism, homophobia, sexism, and partisanship mainly in America. It serves to shed light on the fact that a simple coin, something so mundane and ordinary, can cooperate with itself on a much more efficient level than an entire modern society.
