New
New chapters,
new beginnings-
both so bittersweet.
Leaving people,
leaving places-
the hardest thing to do.
The first day at college,
new city, new surroundings, and new peers.
Any sense of comfort is gone.
Tears for family,
tears for friends,
goodbyes are said.
The funeral of a loved one,
friends and family forever gone.
Moving on can be so hard.
Moving forward
or moving backward?
The question always poses.
Starting a new job, you must first leave the old.
Taking the risk
while doubtfully awaiting its reward.
What came before?
What comes next?
Unsolved mysteries remain.
---
New people,
new places,
so much to see.
Introduced to life-long friends,
traveling around the world,
eyes opened to so much more.
Laughter with family,
laughter with friends,
together once again.
Bringing a newborn baby
to meet a great-grandparent,
reunions always joyful.
New chapters,
new beginnings-
both so bittersweet.
