The Truth
Somehow you made everything better.
I wasn’t in a good place when we met. I was sad, lonely and most importantly, vulnerable.
Maybe that’s why I let you in.
You taught me how it felt to have someone. You looked out for me, I looked out for you. For the first time, I wasn’t actually alone.
It makes me sad that you changed so quickly.
You healed me, then you hurt me. I don’t know how I went on without you. But I did.
And despite the fact we were swept different ways, I will always look out for you.
“That’s what friends are for,” You’d always say. “That’s what friends are for.”
That’s what I’m doing now. I don’t think I’ll ever give up on you, no matter what they say. No matter how far from the line of good you get or how deep the hole you dig yourself into.
I know that you don’t care about me anymore, but I’ll always have your back.
Because you did that for me.
“That’s what friends are for,”
Right?
