Rainbird

Raindrops kiss wing tips of

new beginnings of life

Drops that become inaugurations

of hatred as the pendulum of

time swings and predetermined

notions of ill-conceived

desires that reign a planet

begin to make themselves at home

The ringing of critiques

of those not even known,

start to compose into a far too

familiar orchestra

Claws curled up on the bars

that others have set for us,

binds us with the tears of

another child born in a cage

bound for the stage

Freedom lies in the wings

in the song the rainbird sings
