Ignorant Bliss
I have been taught the work of optimism,
And I have seen the good in all that lie in front of me,
I see every crack, crevice, and cave,
Every river, water, and waves.
I see the people too who think as I do, positive
I haven’t noticed the people, the truly defective,
I haven’t noticed the hurt, misogynistic, and rotten.
It’s okay, I see their smiles, I see them under weeping willows,
I see them as they look and I see them wallowing below,
It’s okay, I am unknowing, untouched, and unawared.
I see my loved one face the world head on as I stay hidden away,
I see a bird through my window and only see the beauty of this jay.
This is who I am and this is how I will stay.
I’m pleasured, I’m happy, I see them be the ones to pay.
Ignorance is who I am, ignorant is how I’ll be.
