A New Life
Paper thin skin tears
Against the jagged stones of an old worn driveway,
Blood running from a new found wound
Revealing an ache to runaway.
Empty eyes glassy
As shouts pound against the walls,
Thoughts creep and snarl as silence starts
Do not let your tears fall.
He takes his swift exit
Leaving everything to rust,
Heartbeat slows and settles
As he ignores cries of unjust.
The dust begins to settle
Emerges a lotus,
The mud was once suffocating
The flower doesn’t notice.
The sun shines
Her beauty on pale skin,
Eyes joyful and light
A new life begins.
