My skin, My Logo
Being black is…..
Most people avoid talking about our history
Being black is….
Being shown an hour video of your possible ancestors blazing on a cross
But Hey, That's just african americ- I mean black history
Being black is…
Being told
Go back to your country
But
fight for your rights, Join the military
Being black is….
Having to hear
Is that your real hair or did you buy it
Or can i touch it
Being black is…
Being told your pretty for a dark skin
Or if i HAD to date a black girl
It'd be you.
Being black is…
Fearing for all of your male family members because you just never know
Missing your imprisoned brothers
But it's their fault right?
Can't blame the system for everything
Being black is…
Something only a black person would understand.
It's not a trend
It's not something to take pity on
Just acknowledge it for once.
