Coming of Age
As we get older
Our lives tend to change
And somethings don’t stay the same.
These people we have known forever
We won’t see any more
And people we’ve been closest with
Will tend to drift away.
Days go by faster and faster
But we never think about this ending
Until it gets here.
We stand side by side,
But not for much longer.

This poem means a lot to me for several reasons. I will be graduating high here in a few months, and that means lots of changes. Separating from my family, not being able to see my friends everyday, and moving to a new state. This poem shows how everyone must go through this change at some point in their life.
