Beautiful things
A vase of dead roses sits on my dresser,
The dried up petals resting on the top.
Why not throw them out,
They are old after all.
Much like the old treehouse near my school,
The roses are beautiful.
The rotting shack rests between two trees,
Miraculously staying aloft the ground.
The treehouse is mysteriously beautiful,
The way it hides within the woods.
The dripping of water from a sewer pipe,
On a quiet day at the beach,
Is also beautiful.
The quiet rush of the water,
Running down to the sea.
There is beauty all around us,
Even in the unpleasant things.

My class prompt for this poem was, "found."
We had to take a closer look at what was around us. That was the only limitation. I took a closer look at my surroundings and found some pretty beautiful things.
