Ocean
The ocean has a knife that cuts deep into my body
as I jump into his frigid waters
He plunges deeply into my very being, shocking me to my core
He tosses me back and forth in his hands,
shaking me until I don’t know up from down
He steals my breath, pushing me down
further and further until I can see no longer
He attempts to grab at my ankles as I fight my way back to the surface
Finally, I am up, and I see the calmest scene on the surface
Glassy, flat water that stretches on for miles
The rolling swells of blue gently raise me up and down,
And I am confused
How can a serene setting on the surface, have such dangerous devils right below?
