You are Dad
You are fresh cut grass,
the sweet smell of summer and warmth
that calms my nerves
You are a white tee
simple, but pairing well with anything
You are the bold, blue truck
nothing can stop your roaring engine
like a warhorse ready for battle
You are Dollar Tree reading glasses
cheap at times
but can never truly be broken
You are the basement
the support of the house
what holds us all together
You are the broken couch
soft, warm and comforting
yet extremely strong and supportive
You are Jalepiño Cheddar Potato Skins-
with every bite, spicy, sweet and savory
something I can never get enough of
You are the lake
calm waves gently washing over the rocks
a comforting place I like to call
home
You are Dad
the building block
that has molded me into the
strong young woman
I am today
