Hairbrush

You give me life

You give me pain

You hurt my head

Sometimes even pull it to the end

As I grab you off my desk and grip you by the handle

The cushioning forms to my grip

Making it comfortable as I use you

I brush from the bottom up

And the bristles get caught up in the knots

OW OW OW

The hurt you give when you go through my hair

OW OW OW

My eyes begin to water

And the frustration begins

I want to throw you across the room and into the wall

But oh how useful you are

You take the mess out my hair

Sometimes you make me beautiful

Sometimes you make me hate the air

For ruining the creation you made

I know our relationship is a confusing one

I hate you

Then I love you

Then I hate you

Then I love you again

I hope that maybe we can mend this

And one day you won’t hurt as much

But I know that will be something we both will miss

The day you won’t hurt as much

Will be the day I go bald

And have no hair left to share

Oh how I dread that day

So for now I’ll say

I will be grateful that you have a purpose for me

That you are useful for me

That everything we do together has meaning
