A Pitiful Sad Poem About Regret
yesterday, staying up till three
AM, chatting with strangers
on your phone, binging anime
movies, you silly girl;
you should have studied
or slept. but you stayed
up and condemned yourself
to seven hours
of school day exhaustion;
spending english
pretending to read othello
while rushing for science,
getting shameful call-outs
by teachers
for sleeping through roll-call.
and you regret everything so much
you write this pitiful sad poem
about regret.
you know you can’t turn back time,
and the second-best option
is to wash your feelings away;
if you win something
like a writing award, you bet
you’ll no longer regret
all the mistakes you’ve
committed yesterday.
