Drafted E-Mail to God
Allah, do you hear me?
Hear me as I weep,
Praying under a gray sky,
Tears dotting my vision,
Eyes burning like the Amazon fire?
“Will she come back?” I ask you,
Only to be answered with silence.
God, do you see me?
They say you’re an all-seeing, all-knowing being.
You’ve watched the tears roll down my cheeks,
But no words of comfort came from you.
You see children cry enough tears to fill a river;
Yet, you do nothing.
“Will she come back?” I ask you,
Only to be answered with silence.
Yahweh, do you feel me?
Do you feel my frantic fingers glide across the keyboard,
Desperate for an answer,
Even after all of these years?
Feel the burning in my eyes
After crying every night?
“Will she come back?” I ask you,
Only to be answered with silence.
