KNights
Sprinting to the field
Camera bag over my shoulder
Hitting my hip, as my foot hits each step
“Why aren’t you out there?”
Whipping around quickly to find the source
Huffing, puffing, wheezing
Trying to catch my breath to answer
“I’m here, I’m going, it’s okay”
Clash of the lens as the bag comes ‘round
Bright, strong lights shine down on the ants
I never knew I was important to this
The capturing of emotional and impactful moments,
The shutter clicks as if it were the blink of an eye
On the sideline, almost close enough
to getting tackled myself
My ears are flooded by the
Chants, Shouts, Roars
Echo throughout the enormous stadium
Lowering the bulky camera
To capture what's going on with my own eyes
Differs from having my face squished against the uncomfortable equipment
“Right here, I’m open” “GO LONG!”
I hear the yells from the boys as they
Running down the field, praying to have pictured the moment
Hearing the click of the shutter go off
The progression of the throw leading to a
“TOUCHDOWN!”
Spirited Students shoot up cheering from the stands as the point is scored
Coaches and team holler in excitement
Crouch down, gain advantage
Play ready, angles to please
Blue 42, lens changes
Photo after photo, chant after chant
“You can't do that” in the background
Viewfinder against my face, actions becoming clear
Opponents running
One by one tackled to the ground
The leap before the last down
Click... The moment is still
Bleachers erupt in a fit of “Scoreboard, Scoreboard”
The foe hits the ground with a thud
Line up, play starts
Tactics used to full advantage
Gaining yards
Ears ringing as
Cheerleaders cheering
Coaches yelling
Goonies hyping
Shutter clicking
The winning point scored
Click… focus on them
Ecstatic bodies on the field
Jumping, screaming like banshees
Lower corner flashing, not much longer
Slow speed, it’s all a blur of excitement

Reminisce back on shooting football games for the yearbook, probably one of the coolest sports hoot by far.
