Jawline
There was always an empty spot
But I could never connect the dots
In every situation there was an absence
It just didn't make sense
As time did what time does
He grew on me, from the very stubbles of peach fuzz
As time aged like wine
I saw something peculiar
Within my Jawline
An unmistakable
Unforgettable
Striking resemblance
That sparked a seemingly endless resentment
I hated it hated it hated it
But time never quit
The eyes, the nose, the hair
Trapped me in a genetic snare
The man who was never there
Had me by the throat like a bear
Perhaps this was how he would be with me
Not physically, rather phenotypically
As time did what time does
It eroded the loathe, as time does.

This piece is one that I've had in the vaults for sometime, it was originally written around my freshman year and I never turned it in. It was full of hate and resentment towards my father. But "as time did what time does" led me to revise portions and improve upon it.
