In the City of New Orleans
In the city of New Orleans,
I am walking down the street.
The fresh smell of beignets,
flow through the town.
In the city of New Orleans,
I sit in Jackson square.
I think about the fun festivals that free us from our frustrating lives.
In the city of New Orleans,
the sound of streetcars could be heard for blocks.
As well as the horses marching through the streets, giving people tours of the city.
In the city of New Orleans,
once a year people line the streets waiting to catch beads.
They eat king cake, wear masks, and ride in parades enjoying the festivities,
that last only for five days.
Smiles light up the room
like stars light up the night.
In the city of New Orleans.
