Hero of War
The time in a life when one becomes free,
A period of freedom where one tends to be
A child with no purpose looks for a cause,
He cannot find a future with nothing but flaws
Without finding a meaning, he takes someone else’s,
The soldier straps on his boots and chooses to be selfless
Surrounding him is sand, the land is unknown,
He’s forced to become a man, his childhood just a loan,
The medals were awarded for his time in war,
His demons, however, is what he brought back to shore
And when he is done, his “cause” ships him home,
The soldier now left to fend on his own
The time in a life when one becomes free,
A period of freedom, where not one wants to be
A man with no purpose, except for his cause,
What to do now, the hero is at a loss
