Birds
"Some birds hide in leaves so effectively you don't see they're all around you"
I didn't realise they were watching me the whole time.
Different types, each with new looks and songs.
One dove caught my eye with his kind looks and his beautiful song.
I was caught in a euphoric trance, no way to see the trap I was being pulled into.
I was traveling deeper and deeper until the pain of his song became so painful,
I finally opened my eyes,
To see the dove I fell for was a crow in disguise.
Quote from “Woven by Air, Texture of Air” by Naomi Shihab Nye.
