To know one is existing

as opposed to living

is very difficult.

You must experience

that thrill of having

wind rush through

every strand of your hair.

Your heart must stop,

even for just a second.

Stop acting like the robot you know.

stuck in the same old routine you hate.

Step out of that monotonous routine

do something exciting and original.

Stop being a statistic.

be different for once,

wear what you want,

do what you want,

Start actually living.

One must stop existing

within the algorithms

and recode themselves

to truly understand that

they

are

ALIVE.

The author's comments:

This is a shape poem, however you can't see the shape. At first, the poem starts off in a line and then starts to zig zag around to show the poem starting to come alive, much alike the robot metaphor I used within the poem.

This poem is about stepping out of society's tight clutches and becoming your own person.
