OUT THE WINDOW
Closest,
the window itself is dirty,
Like it hasn’t been cleaned in a while
There’s reflection from the lights
An ugly yellow glow.
The air outside looks clean and cool,
Inside it’s warm and stuffy.
Closer
There is grass and bushes,
Clean looking landscaping.
It’s morning
the dew on the plants,
Shining in the early sun.
The last flowers of summer,
struggling to hold on.
Closer,
There are trees,
Oak, Maple, Pine,
They’re just starting to change
leaves flutter
As the fall breeze is beginning to blow,
each day gets colder.
Far out the window
I see the road,
It’s crowded,
Cars pass
Stopping at the light,
Going when it changes
