WHO I AM
I am from pear trees in the backyard,
From my mother gardening outside.
I am from a big family,
With the laughter and arguments that come with it.
I’m from cheesy potatoes on christmas,
and the silverware clanking at dinner.
From candles that smell like cinnamon,
And the homemade cookies we make every year.
I am from my features that make me unique,
From the freckles sprinkled along my nose and cheeks.
To the birthmark on my stomach,
That only appears after I've been in the sun.
I am from thunderstorms,
Lighting up the sky.
From the birthday cards,
That I have saved every year.
I come from a crazy, dysfunctional family,
A family that has always put each other first.
I come from love,
A family that has made me who I am.
