The Waiting Room

A sense of restlessness fills the air.
The people sit patiently,
or impatiently.
The tapping of one’s foot provides the beat of the room.
Its answered by the click of a pen,
Tied together with the hum of A/C.
The creek of a door provides the opportunity of escape,
and also the dread of poor times arriving.
But only one of us will face this fate
A beckoning call splits the silence in two
Answered by the rise of a body
One that enters the portal to the unknown
And then everything returns to normal
A silent abyss
Full of waiting and wondering
