Where I'm From
I am from the fields in the back,
I am from those hot summer days,
with the cool refreshing water at the end.
I am from the cool breezes that blew on my face,
that seemed to go as fast as they had come.
I am from the alien worlds and cowboy showdowns,
I used to imagine.
I am from the water balloon fights,
the tag games,
the basketball matches.
I am from the time when the day is almost done,
and it’s time to end our fun,
until tomorrow,
when we are raised anew.
I am from the family time of dinner,
I am from the floor picnics,
the drive through dinners,
the eating out dinners.
I am from my cozy bed at 8 o’clock,
drifting off to sleep thinking about what fun I’ll have,
Tomorrow.
