question for the wind
i wonder if the wind has ever loved.
has it ever been infatuated with the tumultuous chaotic and yet beautiful world?
did it love
the warm gold, brown, and red leaves that it pulled from the aging trees?
did it breathe in
the scent of cherries in the sun as it ruffled the emerald leaves of a creaking oak?
did it mingle happily with
the minty breath of a young child lying outside, watching shooting stars fall from the endless night sky?
what did it think of
the dainty snowflakes it blew down that tumbled through the sky like ballerinas?’
i asked these questions to the burbling creek moving west through the tall pine trees,
but it only giggled
and gently splashed at my legs.
so,
if you know if the wind has ever loved,
please come to the forest outside your house
and shout the answer into the trees.
