High School
They say high school is a place for learning and fun. To live your best life, and keep moving on.
They say that what we do here will determine the rest of our lives. How can that be?
The elders that tell us these things are ignorant. Not knowing how the newly evolved generation has cursed itself.
What they know about school is now nonexistent and left behind.
When they left high school, they went to hang out with their friends until nightfall.
They didn't just sit around, waiting restlessly for every day and night to end its cycle.
This generation of social media that we grow up in is unique in its very own way.
We grew up with creeps, stalkers, and shooters who the media praise.
The media has become a disease, corrupting teenage minds, and making them seem blind.
It’s creating kids who only say they're depressed because it gives them the spotlight.
Technology ruined our routines, our sole personalities, and our dignity.
What used to be courage in many, turned into fear in the eyes of those who stare at screens.
We have lost our beat. We have lost our voice. We have lost our creativity.
The “leaders” that we look up to, they are secretly collapsing upon themselves.
We are covertly being innovative. We don't share our own thoughts or ideas.
Because of this, we don't walk a different trail after all. Nobody’s different. Nobody’s special.
The generations of enthusiasm are no longer there. Nobody is being who they truly are.
Everyone is following the same path as everyone else. The efficiency of discovery is shallow.
What the elders don't realize, is that we are more different then they can even imagine.
So it's about time we have somebody new at the podium. Someone who broke free of this curse.

I wrote this poem to explain to others what high school has turned into. After reading, I want people to realize how different high school is from when adults were in high school. I want people to realize that it's about time that someone younger and more involved in today's generation will control the school system.
