This Was...
I am from the crisp, autumn light, caressing the skin, like a grandmother’s hug.
Laughter vibrates through the air as the smell of charcoal drifts through the wind.
Happiness provides warmth like a blanket fresh out of the dryer.
The cries of agony disrupt the balance that was my sanctuary.
I am from the late-night cries and the aching bruises.
The four walls protecting against the groaning winds, are now the worst enemy.
Silence develops into terror, digging at the idea of disappearing.
The walls, shrieking with delight, emphasized the idea of normality.
I am from the world that ceased to exist, fading, becoming a memory.
The sky that once gleamed with light, spews ash and flame, destroying signs of desire.
The hatred emphasizes the need of immunity.
The soul who wished for an escape, crawls back to their home.
