Time goes by
I am from a new house being built on open subdivision land
looking down from my dad’s shoulders, wondering if I will ever fall!
the stove heating up my mom making fresh chocolate. chip. cookies.
the warm smell fresh in the air when my dad comes home from a long day at work
I am from feeling my mom giving me a warm tight hug after picking me up at preschool every day
hearing the ring for turkey dinner as well as church bells for Christmas
seeing all of my cousins scrambled around looking for Easter eggs
realizing where did the time go by when my family is gathered around my grandma looking down at her sobbing in sniffles when she reaches her last breath
I am from a well loved family with warm hugs, deep talks time flew by as I am entering the first year of highschool
looking back at my mom waving goodbye through the window
the bus dropped me off at the stop sign in my subdivision running to get inside
I am from the house smelling like a snack as my dogs great me by jumping on me
“how was your first day of school” my mom says...the question after every school day
I’m telling her how I never wanna go back wishing I could feel the hot windy summer air
Still wondering how I am going to make it to senior year as now I am just a junior
