The Hundred Meter Journey
I stand at the starting line, the fresh spring taking over my fears.
My stomach somersaults at the thought of this race.
I inhale the cool air and exhale all my fears.
I step to face the ten hurdles lined up in front of me,
trying to hide the fear rushing through my veins.
The blare of the speakers barely registers in my ears.
I begin to settle into my blocks,
and before I know it the gun is shot.
I’m settling in the groove of the race,
feeling the rhythm beneath my feet.
With the adrenaline pounding through my limbs,
I race over the tenth hurdle
and throw myself towards the finish line.
I hear my name roar over the loudspeakers
and the cheers in the background.
I feel it.
These are the moments I live for;
the moments that make the blood, sweat, and tears worth it.

I am Jordan from Cascade High School. I am a senior in high school! This is a piece of writing I chose to write about the experience I have during a track hurdle race. This sport is a huge portion of my life.
